DSE turnover hits one year high amid downfall

The Dhaka Stock Exchange s (DSE) daily turnover jumped by 42.33% (to Tk2,832.30 crore) on Tuesday compared to the previous session, which also hit a one-year high amid the prime index downfall due sell pressure by the institutional investors to book profits.Earlier, on 7 September 2021, the daily turnover of the DSE had reached Tk2,866 crore. The DSE said in a press letter that the daily turnover has crossed over Tk2,800 crore 15 times in its history.Beximco Limited and Orion Pharma jointly grabbed over 23% of the DSE total turnover, where Beximco Limited topped on the table.On the day, the benchmark index of the DSE fell 4 points to close at 6,596 and the blue-chip index also down by 4 points to 2,401.However, in the early session of the day, the DSEX surged over 70 points and in the last 30 minutes trading session the index lost the gaining streak due to massive sell pressure from the institutional investors for booking quick profit.Due to the indices fall, 156 scripts of the DSE have been declined, whereas 72 advanced and 145 remained unchanged.CSCX, the major index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange, closed 0.30% higher on Tuesday, while turnover at the port-city bourse fell by 47% to Tk49 crore.
