Stocks open positive amid cautious trading

The stock market opened marginally higher on Monday as the bargain hunters tried to put fresh bets on sector-wise specific stocks.FEFollowing the previous day’s marginal correction, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) went up by 9.44 points to stand at 6,351, after the first 30 minutes of trading at 10:30 am.The DS30 Index, which consists of blue-chip companies, also rose 3.87 points to 2,194 and the DSES Index, which represents Shariah-based companies, gained 1.90 points to 1,379 till then.Trading activities, however, remained low and stood at Tk 1.90 billion at 10:30 am as some of the investors preferred to remain cautious and keep an eye on market direction.Of the issues traded till then, 101 advanced, 50 declined and 94 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.Sea Pearl Beach Resorts was the most traded stock till the filing of this report with shares worth Tk 195 million changing hands, closely followed by Meghna Life Insurance, Rupali Life, Fareast Life Insurance and Navana Pharma.The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-- also opened higher with CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) gaining 17 points to stand at 18,760, also at 10:30 am.Of the issues traded till then, 23 advanced, 18 declined and 15 remained unchanged with Tk 27 million in turnover.
