Stock turnover crosses Tk 4b-mark after first hour trading
Stocks opened on a positive note on Monday with turnover crossing Tk 4 billion on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) within the first hour of trading as investors are putting fresh bets on selective issues second day after budget declaration.FEAlthough there were no new incentives for the stock market in the proposed budget, the government did not cut the existing facilities offered for the stock market investment, which investors think positive, market insiders say.DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 6.87 points or 0.10 per cent to reach 6,373 within the first hour of trading when the report was filed at 11:00am.The DSES Index, which represents Shariah-based companies, also advanced 2.99 points to 1,398. However, the DS30 Index, which consists of blue-chip companies, dropped 0.11 points to 2,198.The recent increase in market participation also bolstered confidence of investors across the trading floor.Consequently, the total market crossed Tk 4 billion-mark after the first hour of trading and stood at Tk 4.12 billion at 11:00am.Of the issues traded till then, 107 advanced, 65 declined and 135 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.Lub-rref Bangladesh was the most traded stock till the filing of this report with shares worth Tk 275 million changing hands, closely followed by Meghna Life Insurance, RD Food, ITC and Advent Pharma.The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also opened higher with CSE All Share Price Index- CASPI-gaining 25 points to stand at 18,813, also at 11:00am.Of the issues traded till then 56 advanced, 24 declined and 50 remained unchanged with Tk 45 million in turnover.
